Dealing With Temptation Everyone deals with temptation 1 Corinthians When teaching about temptation to young people you should encourage them in the fact that we all struggle with temptation. Temptation is not sin; but, if we yield to the temptation then we fall into sin. The process of temptation and sin is taught in James 1: It says that temptation does not come from God. Temptation comes when we are drawn away with our own lusts. This means that each person will be tempted in different ways at different times. What is not a struggle for me can be a cause of sin to someone else.

Bishop Joseph Mattera Is there a certain level of accountability with your church’s youth group and its leaders? Lightstock I write this in the context of having been a pastor for more then three decades as well as ministering in hundreds of local congregations. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly regarding youth groups.
I learned a long time ago that just because your local church has a youth group, it is not always in the best interest of parents to encourage their children to attend it. Also, in the case of functional Christian families, the parents have the primary responsibility of training their children—not the church youth group. In cases where kids come in without Christian families behind them, then the church has to attempt to disciple them without parental aid, which is extremely difficult.

By Chris In my previous post I referred to part of a study by the Search Institute that collated the top 10 things teenagers want from adults in order to build meaningful relationships. This can be initiated through a formal mentoring program, however most commonly it develops through circumstances in the teenagers life. No matter how it happens the presence of a strong mentor is a valuable resource in the life of a developing teenager. So after giving you a list of what teens are looking for in mentors, I thought it might be useful and fair to provide some resources for those of you who are, or have the potential, to be in a mentoring relationship with teens.
This list is based a resource from the Youth Mentoring Network and gives some basic guidelines for building a mentoring relationship. Have realistic goals and expectations — focus on the teenager and their overall development. Your early efforts should just be on developing rapport. Have fun together — play games, go bowling, go to the movies, etc. Be Positive — be encouraging and offer concrete assistance.
Respect the trust the teenager places in you — show them that you understand and are committed to the relationship. This point is not always valid, especially if you are a friend of the family or a relative. Make sure parents know who you are, at least enough to trust you. Below is a list of 5 ethical principles that potential mentors need to consider.

As they share the good news of the gospel, they take every opportunity to invite people to church on Sunday. After Sunday morning worship, these students can be found in two area hospitals, visiting sick people and leading Bible studies.
